Day 1 - ARRIVAL DUBROVNIK (30 km)
Welcome to Dubrovnik, the "Pearl of the Adriatic" and a UNESCO world heritage site. Today Dubrovnik is the proudest feather in Croatia’s tourist cap, an elite destination and one of the most beautiful towns in the Mediterranean. The old city is encompassed by medieval walls, which have been preserved in their original form. Dubrovnik was known as the Republic of Ragusa in the middle ages and became the only Adriatic city-state to rival Venice. Supported by skilled diplomacy and wealth, the city developed remarkably quickly, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries. On arrival at Dubrovnik International Airport, you will be met by your local tour escort. Once everyone in your group has been accounted for, you will be escorted to your waiting coach and transferred to the hotel. Check-in time: from 2 pm or after. Day 2 - DUBROVNIK (20 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning you will enjoy a tour of the city of Dubrovnik with your specialized local guide. The accesses to the Dubrovnik City Walls and to the Franciscan Monastery are included during the tour. Return to the hotel after the tour and the remainder of the day is at leisure. Day 3 - DUBROVNIK – MOSTAR – SPLIT (310 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. 08h30 This morning, after breakfast depart for Split, stopping first to visit Mostar, a city in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, straddling the Neretva River. 12h00 Lunch at leisure 13h00 Mostar is one of the most beautiful cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With your specialized local guide, you will take a walking tour of its elegant Bridge, Old Bazaar and Mosque. In the 1990s conflict, most of the historic town and the Old Bridge, designed by the renowned architect Sinan, were destroyed. The Old Bridge was recently rebuilt and many of the edifices in the Old Town have been restored or rebuilt with the contribution of an international scientific committee established by UNESCO. The Old Bridge area, with its pre-Ottoman, eastern Ottoman, Mediterranean, and western European architectural features, is an outstanding example of a multicultural urban settlement. Day 4 - SPLIT – TROGIR – SPLIT (60 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will take a tour of Split, followed by a visit to Trogir. Split, a town on Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, is known for its beaches, and the fortress-like Diocletian's Palace at its center. Diocletian's Palace is an ancient palace built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian at the turn of the fourth century AD, that today forms about half the old town of Split, Croatia. Once home to thousands, its sprawling remains include more than 200 buildings. Within its white stone walls and under its courtyards are a cathedral and numerous shops, bars, cafes, hotels, and houses. During your walking city tour with your specialized local guide, you will explore Diocletian’s Palace with its Peristyle, Temple of Jupiter and Cathedral. Lunch at leisure. Continue on to Trogir, a pearl-like town in the heart of Dalmatia. Experience the magic of Trogir on a walking tour with a specialized local guide, and see the romantic buildings of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The relaxed walk will explore the historic landmarks of the medieval city, situated on a small island between the Croatian mainland and the island of Čiovo. You will also view the Cathedral of St. Lawrence (entrance included), a Roman Catholic triple-naved basilica constructed in a Romanesque-Gothic style in Trogir, Croatia. Since its construction lasted several centuries, it illustrates all the styles that succeeded one another in Dalmatia. It serves now as the most imposing monument in the city of Trogir. Day 5 - SPLIT – ZADAR – PLITVICE (300 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. 9h00 Depart for Zadar one of the most beautiful old Dalmatian cities. This city that has been the center of this part of the Adriatic coast since Roman times and today is a city with a rich cultural heritage found on every corner. Access to St. Donato included. Lunch at leisure 13h30 Take a short tour of this city with your specialized local guide after which you will have some free time to explore the city on your own. 16h00 Departing for Plitvice. 18h45 Overnight in Plitvice.
Day 6 - PLITVICE – OPATIJA (190 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, you will visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park (entry fee is included), included in UNESCO’S list of world natural heritage sites since 1979. There are 16 interlinked lakes between Mala Kapela Mountain and Pljesevica Mountain. The lake system is divided into the upper and lower lakes. The upper lakes are separated by dolomite barriers, which grow with the formation of travertine, forming thus travertine barriers. The lower lakes were formed by crumbling and caving-in of the vaults above subterranean cavities through which water of the upper lakes disappeared. You will explore the park with your specialized local guide. Lunch at leisure Depart for Opatija, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Adriatic. 18h00 Overnight in Opatija.
Day 7 - OPATIJA – ROVINJ – PULA – OPATIJA (230 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. 9h00 After breakfast, depart for a full-day excursion to the peninsula of Istra. Our first stop is Rovinj. Rovinj is a charmingly picturesque town and one of the most romantic places in the Mediterranean! Rovinj was originally an island, but 250 years ago, the narrow channel which separated it from the mainland was filled in. It’s so delightfully pretty and also lively with its numerous cafes, restaurants, and galleries. Lunch at leisure. After Rovinj proceed to Pula, a 3000-year-old town with the famous Roman Amphitheater (entrance included) and its underground chambers, city gates and walls, Triumphal arch of Sergians, Roman Forum, Roman mosaic and Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. Return to your hotel in Opatija after the tour. 18h00 Overnight in Opatija.
Day 8 - OPATIJA – LJUBLJANA (120 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, drive to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia and home to one of the oldest Philharmonics in the world. Lunch at Leisure. With your specialized local guide, you will explore the baroque town buildings and stroll alongside the majestic Ljubljana River that flows through the center of town. Many bridges cross the river; the most famous is Tromostovje (Triple Bridge). Baroque and art-nouveau have marked this exceptional city, together with new, modern architectural styles. The Old town, built on a hill as a fortress, from which you will see Ljubljana and its magnificent surroundings, is the main attraction in the city. Overnight in Ljubljana.
Day 9 - LJUBLJANA – BOHINJ – BLED – LJUBLJANA (110 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. 9h00 Today enjoy a full-day tour of Bled with its mountainous environs and stunning topography and the Bohinj area. Lake Bled, together with its surroundings, ranks among the most beautiful alpine resorts. Visit the old town and Bled Castle (entry fee included). Bled Castle has looked down upon the lake and surrounding countryside of Gorenjska for many centuries. Built as a defensive structure in 1011, you will not find any grand halls here, but it is nevertheless a fascinating building to explore. It was badly damaged by an earthquake in 1511 and later restored to how we see it today. Lunch at leisure. Then y ou will take a boat ride across the lake in the traditional Pletna boat and relax in the peaceful atmosphere. The most iconic images of Lake Bled always include the island with its Gothic church, built where once stood an ancient Slavic temple to Živa, the goddess of love. When the locals were converted from paganism to Christianity in 745, they were forced to replace their goddess with the Christian Virgin Mary. The temple was destroyed and a church built instead. The current church was built in 1465 with a striking 52m high free-standing bell-tower. In the middle of the 17th century, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary and a 99 step stone staircase were also built. You will visit St. Mary’s Church on Bled Island (entrance fee included), before returning to your hotel in Ljubljana. Overnight in Ljubljana.
Day 10 - LJUBLJANA – ZAGREB (160 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, drive to Zagreb; a city rich with gorgeous greenery, famous for its parks and well-preserved natural environment. Lunch at leisure Your tour of Zagreb with your specialized local guide will take you through its long history. In the historic Upper Town you will find St. Mark’s Church, with its famous multi-colored mosaic-tiled roof, on the square where both Croatian Parliament and the seat of Government are located. You will also pass by the University and the city’s gothic Cathedral with the fountain in front, sculpted by the world-famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović, you cannot miss the Croatian National Theatre, housed in the present-day Old City Hall and home to Zagreb’s drama, opera, and ballet productions. Here is a perfect example of the city’s diversity: it is not only a cultural and historical landmark but also a favorite hang-out for skateboarders! The remainder of the day at leisure.
