Itinerary
Upon arrival at Munich Airport catch the train to Salzburg. Settle in for the two and half hours journey to your destination. Check in and spend the rest of day at leisure. Overnight Salzburg.
After breakfast, start exploring the city of Mozart and Sound of Music. Take in the sights on a Hop on –Hop off bus tour. Set your own pace, get on and off at any of the stops. This tour is the best way to see the important sights of the city. Make sure you cover Mirabell Palace, Mozart’s Residence, Trinity Church, Horse Pond, Festival Halls, Hellbrunn Palace, Palace of Frohnburg, Nonnberg Abbey, and Mozart Square. Stroll through the streets in thein the Old Town and take a break at one of the numerous cafes. Make sure to buy some Mozartkugeln chocolate. Once you’ve finished your tour continue to explore the Salzburg Christmas Market which is one of the oldest of its kind. This famous Advent market draws countless visitors every Christmas season and is also very popular with the locals. Not least because of the shopping opportunities, traditional huts and unique atmosphere, along with specially designed lighting that stretches above the market stands like romantic stars across the night sky. Today it’s time to move on to Munich, the capital of Bavaria. Make your own way to Salzburg train station. Relax on the2 hrs train journey as it takes you through some amazing scenery and across the border from Austria to Germany. Once in Munich, it’s only a short distance to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring Munich. Overnight Munich.
After breakfast, begin your first day in the capital of Bavaria with aHop on/off tour. Discover all the major sights of Munichaboard a double-decker bus. Highlights include City Hall in Marienplatz, Karlsplatz with Stachus, the Opera and the BMW World. In addition, the tour passes the Palace of Nymphenburg, the Olympic Grounds as well as the Siegestor near the English Garden. A complete tour lasts 2.5 hours. Plenty of time now for Munich’s Christmas market in the Marienplatz in the city center. The Christmas Market still retains its traditional Bavarian character, showing a variety of handmade items available for purchase. Baked apples, gingerbread and more: There’s a range of culinary delicacies at the Christmas Market. Daily from 10 am, the 160+ booths are open for the visitor. During the evening you can listen to Advent music, a glass of mulled wine in your hand -and really get into the mood for Christmas! The biggest attraction -literally -is the magnificent Christmas tree in front of the new town hall (Neues Rathaus): Around 2,500 candles lend the entire square a delightful Advent ambiance. The Christmas Market is open daily from November 27th–December 24thfrom morning until evening. Overnight Munich.
