The Furkapass was immortalised by the Aston DB5 / Ford Mustang car chase in James Bond’s Goldfinger. It is one of the highest mountain passes in the Alps.
The drive is definitely worth it. Its western side is beside the famous Rhone glacier. The climb starts immediately with the hardest slopes, and a number of hairpin turns. The road is very wide and perfectly surfaced. The second part of the climb includes much more straight forward road, but it's also less steep. Don’t forget your camera!Â
In Andermatt you will pass the Aurora petrol station.
On the way to the south of Switzerland, you will pass a beautiful mountain scenery.
Welcome to Ticino, the Italian speaking part of Switzerland.
In James Bond manner, drive to the Verzasca valley and the water dam where Pierce Brosnan did his famous bungy jump in Goldeneye.
Why not do the same and jump down the 220m high water dam? Perfect for all first time jumpers. If too adventurous, enjoy the valley and the view from the dam.
